Description

You should study for this qualification if you would like to work as an accounts assistant in a manual or computerised accounting environment. The AAT Intermediate Stage Programme consists of preparing and recording financial and costing information, preparing reports and returns, including VAT, a health and safety unit and working with I.T. Assessment consists of a combination of internal skills testing and external examinations.

Entry Requirements
You will require an understanding of the principles of double entry book-keeping, otherwise the programme is open access with no prescribed entry requirements. However, basic communication and number skills are essential.
Progression

Progression is to AAT Technician stage and, with relevant work experience, onto membership of the AAT (M.A.A.T). The Association of Accounting Technicians is recognised by the leading accounting institutions: the Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICAEW), the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), the Association of Certified Accountants (ACCA), the Chartered Institute Of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA).
