Description

You should study for this qualification if you would like to work as an accounts assistant in a manual or computerised accounting environment. The AAT Foundation Stage accounts programme consists of recording income, receipts and payments, preparing ledger balances to trial balance stage, supplying management control information, working with Sage accounts, communication and office skills and a health & safety unit. Assessment consists of a combination of internal skills testing and one external examination.

Entry Requirements
The programme is entirely open access and there are no prescribed entry requirements, although assessments will involve written and numerical assignments and therefore students should possess basic communication and number skills.
Progression

You may progress onto AAT Intermediate and Technician levels, and ultimately membership of the AAT (M.A.A.T). The Association of Accounting Technicians is recognised by the leading accounting institutions: the Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICAEW), the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), the Association of Certified Accountants (ACCA), the Chartered Institute Of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA).
